This design is drawn from an 18th century Qing Dynasty kesi silk tapestry, one of the most labor-intensive textile arts in Chinese history, where every thread was hand-woven to create imagery of breathtaking detail and color. Two imperial dragons face each other across a field of auspicious clouds, rendered in the rich jewel tones of vermillion, jade, and gold that defined the height of Qing Dynasty artistry.

Researched and reimagined through modern graphic design by Melodia, an independent artist based in Boulder, CO. The full richness of the original tapestry, every scale, every flame, every cloud, brought to life on faux leather.
